Description
110km cycling event starting from Llandrindod. Controls at Tregaron and Elan Village, plus 1 information control.
A scenic ride out to Tregaron via The Devil’s Staircase, and returning via rough tracks alongside the Claerwen Reservoir to Elan Village.
Spend a day challenging yourself on a constantly changing route. Starting from the victorian spa town of Llandrindod, you head weston a rolling road to Abergwesyn and the Devil’s Staircase. You have a choice of controls in Tregaron. The return is via Dyfi Pools and along the edge of Claewen reservoir. Once you have returned to the Elan Valley, there is a control at Elan Village, before last few kilometers back to the arrivee.
This is a challenging and hilly 110km route with a long stretch of traffic-free poor gravel track.
Reconnaissance notes
One rough section, one river fording required, multiple steep climbs and descents, and little access to the railway network for self-extraction. This is a hilly adventurous route.
Think again about entering this event if you you have never ridden 100km before, if you are unhappy about unmanned controls or unsure about riding on gravel surfaces.
